Today TV is not the only place where you can engage your audience, as the internet has gained immense popularity. This popularity has been spurred on by social media sites and chat sites. However, even today chat sites have not lost their luster. Social media sites like Facebook do let you chat, but this is only with people you know.
Online chat sites are a great way to get to know new people, as you are united by a topic you both share interest in. Thus, using both social media and chat sites will cater for your different type of online users, and here are 5 tips to combine chat sites and social media for greater exposure:
1. Same Name
Having a different username from one site to the next will be asking a lot from your targeted audience. Having a single username will give you a brand, as users on any site will be able to identify you on any platform. This applies mostly to Twitter and chat sites. However, when it comes to your Facebook page, ensure you have a name that is similar to the displayed names on your Twitter and chat site accounts.
2. Be Active on All Platforms
When you are trending on Twitter, make it a point to mention this in your chats. Also, at the same time when you are trending on Twitter, that doesn’t mean that you should not be manning your chat site accounts, or your Facebook Page. A good strategy to get your online presence to a wider reach is to maintain all your accounts as you will be able to capture a diverse audience. This will mean you will have to have a team managing the accounts. Make sure you are simultaneously running all the different platforms.
3. Provide Links
It is not enough to engage users in various platforms, make it a point to refer to media available in your other platforms. For instance, you are in a chat room where you are discussing a certain topic, and you have an info graphic on Twitter that can explain it better. You are left with one option in such cases and that is posting the link on the chat room. Also have links to all your platforms on your profile for each site.
4. Harmonize your Content
Each outlet has its advantaged and disadvantages. When you want instant feedback chat sites are the best option. Next, when you want to create hype about a product Twitter is effective in this. Lastly, when you want to post a press release, Facebook is a good medium for this. Use each outlet’s strength to convey your message in a unique and creative way.
5. Understand each Platform
Though each platform should have similar content, keep in mind that each site is governed by its own norms.
Getting your word out to the masses on the internet you will need to combine all the different platforms, as each has its own merits.
