We all understand the importance of ranking well in Google search and hence many webmasters engaged themselves with black-hat tactics to gain fast results. When I say “black-hat tactics”, I mean the practices which are against the guidelines of Google. But Google is becoming smarter everyday and money is not an issue to get what they want. Google employed hundreds and thousands of brilliant engineers and programmers, working day and night to uphold its gigantic presence online. And hence it is a lot more difficult to rank in Google organic search these days.
SEO is basically classified into two broad categories – On-Page and Off-Page. Many webmasters overlook the important of on-page SEO. They think that if they are good with off-page SEO they can rank well without the need for proper on-page search engine optimization. This is simply not true. In fact on-page SEO is as important as off-page SEO if not more important. This is because with on-page SEO it is easier to follow the guidelines of Google and the result is always more consistent. Let’s take a look at some basic and important on-page SEO tips.
1. Always include your main keywords phrase in the title of your post. Google gives a lot of importance to the title while ranking a web-page. But the title should not be just the keywords phrase, mixed it with other relevant words to make it look natural and less optimized. For example, if your keywords phrase is “Panasonic ES-LV81 K Review” then the title should be something like “The best blog for Panasonic ESLV81 K Review”.
2. Use your main keywords in the H1 or the H2 tag. This will convey a message to the Google bot that your targeted keywords phrase is important in the post. Do not overdo it. Just use it once either with your H1 tag or the H2 tag, that’s it.
3. These days it is very important to include an image in your post. Google thinks that you give more value to your readers by adding a relevant image or a video. This may not be always true, but what do you lose by implementing this small task? When you add an image to your post do not forget to add a “title” and the “alt text”. You can use your primary or secondary keywords phrase in this regard.
4. Keep a tap on the targeted keyword density. Do not over optimize. Don’t start every sentence or paragraph with “Panasonic ES-LV81 K Review”. I like to keep my main keywords phrase density at 2 – 3%. There are no hard and fast rules but the idea is to make it look natural.
Remember, on-page SEO practices are something which is more consistent than off-page SEO practices. All the animal updates from Google will target websites that are aggressively into off-page SEO. On the other hand, on-page SEO is very safe and effective.
